Alovus and Mioryu glance at each other and try to slouch a bit.

"Nah, I'm kidding, I use that joke every year. Welcome to the north pole, it's good of the academy to send some students up for the last two weeks of each year to help out as we're always short-staffed around this time."

Santa hefted a box of colored metal shards on to the table.

"The crisis du jour is one of the reindeers got into the ornament supply and made a giant mess: I want you two to see if you can salvage anything out of it. This box is a sample to get you started. Oh, and by the way, if you see anything unlabeled, absolutely do not touch it."

"Did you know the north pole is the largest consumer of triplex bonders in the world?" Mioryu whispered. Alovus gulped.
