A quick and easy 3 step guide on how to get 1st place in the weeklies: (assuming the thing youre 1st in is time until your submissions shows up on the stream)
1) make a single solve that gets first place on both metrics, instead of 2 different solves, so you concentrate your efforts all on 1 project and can thus optimize it for. this comes especially handy if youre only home for less than 48 hours during the week like me
2) for the rate metric, focus on getting as high of a score in the primary as possible. the secondaries are much less important. this solve succeeds in this as it gets the max possible rate, making it highly optimal
3) for the weighted sum metric, focus on using as few instruction types as possible, as the score takes that into account. this solve uses only grab drop extend and retract, making it (again) highly optimal, although still leaving room for improvements
