"Who says we can't add some pepper spray? There's a whole chamber right there! I mean, we probably couldn't put together ACTUAL pepper spray, but a tank of liquified Mors would do the same kind of damage, and since we're pressurizing it anyways, an atom per every 2 cycles is MORE than enough for a steady spray. I mean, it'd probably kill you, but... why see that as a downside when it could be... an upgrade?~" And then there's a line break to separate the lore from the solve notes. This was a really fun puzzle to solve! That being said, my machine is a bit too intricate to be any fun optimizing, so I'll be submitting another mediocre solution. Let me give you a guided tour though! Let's start with our two central chambers. The top center chamber houses arms 2 and 3: the arms in charge of the Cardinal Hub! These arms can access JUST enough hexes to disperse the quint and get all the right atoms to the right output chambers. Immediately below that chamber is the Foundry, where arm 1 frantically whirls about, making the three metals we need for our output. Technically purifijection says I should be purifying up to that one gold, but the space allotted (at least in my case,) says purifejection can to to hell! Anyways, once arm 1 has finished handling all the metals, it sneaks a quicksilver over to our next stop: The Duplication chamber! This chamber houses arms 4 and 9. Due to the way my machine handles waste (which I'm too lazy to change; I technically don't need a duplicator, but I already programmed the thing around it.) But because of this, a water needs to become an earth. We need the calcification later anyways, so it's mostly fine! Anyways, arm 4 manages duplication, calcification, and sending excess atoms to the disposal chamber below. Arm 9's only real job is to get that quicksilver up to the Peridot chamber to be attached to the final product. The Peridot chamber itself is relatively simple, but it introduces us to one of the main challenges this puzzle presents. A 4x3 chamber is an easy space to move a diamond around in once said diamond has been constructed. Assembling that diamond in the first place though, requires a bit of extra forethought. I delegated two of my outputs to the corners, to allow for more flexible use of my 4 conduit chambers, and it was interesting planning out the build sequence of each one! For the Peridot chamber specifically, arm 6 just makes a triangle, and then fixes on the last quicksilver before pivoting everything into place! The Moonstone chamber similarly just places the silver and assorted cardinals in two pairs and just... connects them. Easy Z shape. However, the Ruby chamber posed an interesting challenge. I needed it connected to the cardinal hub for efficiency, which meant, cramming everything into a chamber with 4 conduits. Adding in the input and the bonder only leaves me 3 remaining hexes for arm placement. I was able to use some pivot tech and a very strict build order to just barely squeeze the gemstone through the available space. Overall a fun and unique start to the weeklies! I'm excited to participate in my first Week 1 non-tourney puzzle, since I jumped in late last year! The Trixie Kagami prediction for this week is that at least two more chambers will be empty at once by the time we reach the end of this results stream! I also predict that we will see at least one solution that handles the bad ratio by just tossing 12 excess atoms into a chamber and clogging the conduits. I only did disposal cuz I really wanted my machine to loop, unlike SOME alchemists. ...Better alchemists. Speaking of better alchemists! Good luck to those placing above me! Signed, Trixie Kagami: The Cheshire Alchemist, Jumping Into The Weeklies Rather Punctually, If She Does Say So Herself P.S. For the unfamiliar, the solve title is a reference to a YTP, which, shortly after the line quoted, contains the line "FUCK Steven Universe" which I felt was applicable on account of we are making 3 gemstones, and neither of them are Garnet, Amethyst, NOR Pearl. You may applaud. (You will not applaud. Trixie Kagami prediction number 3, baby!)
