Working out how to get an extra quicksilver to save that last cycle was very difficult! The bottleneck building the two rods separately is that the final quicksilver can't be grabbed until Cycle24 and can't be merged until Cycle26, which means outputting on Cycle27. I thought 27 was minCycles for a long time, until I realised you could make the Silver rod first then use it as a source of quicksilver once it's been certified. This complicates the rod construction since you now need to find some way to merge the separate chunks. There's not a lot of time between certifying the Silver and the Gold, so you need to reject the quicksilver in a couple of different locations and the arms need to sneak around the giant rod, but it *just* works.
