I sucked it up and redesigned the output half to hopefully take advantage of my revelation that I can exchange the old metal for a new gold on the same turn and that effort paid off very well, reducing my rate by 2 to the second thing I thought the min was (my theory min assumptions have progressed like so: 18->12->10.8->8.4).
