i assume the amount of tracks in each segment can be reduced somehow, but i will not do that. according to the principles of structural rationalism in 19th century neoclassical architecture, a building's appearance must match its structure. one way in which this presents is that the lower floors of a building look larger and/or heaver than the upper floors, so that they are both visually and structurally carrying the weight of the rest of the building. the way the tracks in my assembly go from 2 to 3 to 4 matches this in a very pleasing manner, and i will rather forego further metric improvements than compromise on the stability this brings.
