I have many conflicting thoughts about this solve. On one hand, the shape of the product is so pokey that all the 26 and 27 layouts seemed entirely unfeasible--I never even found a theoretical bond pattern that would warrant moving on to programming. On the other hand, a double-translation from the output feels excessive, and a multibonder with three tracks downright extravagant. On one hand, there are 8 puzzles on the leaderboard whose AG records include a multibonder and tracks. On the other hand, 6 of those 8 are polymers. On one hand, many puzzles have Area records where the last bond is two moves from output. On the other hand, most of those are large crystals that have already used that space for rotation. *********** In the end, I've decided to enjoy this solve for its elegance instead of worrying about its odd characteristics. It may or may not be competitive, but it is still good, and it uses simple movements that are easy to understand instead of the incomprehensible sorcery that Area often requires. And that's nice to watch.
