there are probably still more cycles to shave off in this solution but i don't think im going to find them before i run out of time.

making a ring and putting spokes on it seems slower in freespace than making halves or thirds and putting them together, but the latter don't seem viable in side a 4-hexagon. i didnt really put in the time to try that out properly though, so maybe theres solutions that are just straight up like 200 cycles faster than this.
